IPPA2017

The 8th International Public Procurement was held in Arusha, Tanzania, August 8-10, 2018, was a success. There were:
- 103 paper proposals,
- 71 submitted papers,
- 56 paper presentations (five authors could not attend IPPC8 for a variety of reasons including last minute job demand, and passport application problems,
- 27 panels on various themes, and
- 312 participants from 46 countries.

In addition to the reported data above, IPPC8 had an intangible impact: IPPC became a more recognized and respected procurement conference in Africa.

IPPC is one of a very few conferences, if not the only one, to have refereed publications for distributions at the conference. All papers are now under peer review for publication in our conference book which will be published timely for our IPPC8 distributions.

The Hon. Dr. Phillip I. Mpango, Minister of Planning of the national government of Tanzania, flew in from the nation’s capital, to give an opening speech, which was reported on various television stations in Tanzania.

Following IPPC’s common practice, participants selected IPPC9 (2020) country host though an open bidding process and voting. There were three bidders, one from Brazil, one from USA, and one from China. The China’s host won the bid.

Due to the Chinese government strict international travel rules, the IPPC9 was in Buenos, Argentina, August 15-15, 2020. Then the deadly COVID-19 has forced us to postpone IPPC9 a few times.

Then, when the pandemic was under control, Argentina faced a serious economic repression. The with the Inter-American Development Bank's help, IPPC9 is held in Santiago, Chile.
